Class Feedback

We watched all the classes videos today and gave some feedback. This is what was said:

1) The video is very empowering to young adults. Especially those who are about to leave sixth form and go to uni.
2) The flash back montage was really good and effective.
3) There was a narrative enigma.

Rough Cut Evaluation

The editing process for this music video isn't as straight forward as shoving the clips together and having a final product. To begin with, you have to create a rough cut of the music video, which will allow us to see the shape of the music video and see where we want to go with it. After you are happy with the rough cut you can go ahead and start on after effects and make it look really slick.

We began by looking through each individual shot, deciding whether we wanted to keep it or not use it. This was dependent on whether it was in focus, the lip sync was good or if the action was correct. After this we split the shots into scenes and labelled them "Scene 1 - graduation" and so on. There was also a bin full of random shots that we could dip into if we were bored of the shots we had set aside.

We then had to begin the syncing process and getting all the lip syncs in order. This was a lengthy process and required a lot of patience. The slightest move and the whole thing would be out of sync. Once we did this we began cutting the performance aspect of our video. We used this as the foundation of the video.

Once this cut was completed, we started adding bits of the narrative over the top, cutting away when we wanted performance to shine through. It was here that we realised that we possibly didn't have enough narrative to fill out the whole video (seeing as we had cut a scene on the shoot day.)

We thought we had finished, until we came up to the editing suite to find that something had happened at all the performance was out of sync. Absolute nightmare! This meant we had to re-sync loads of the clips, again a very lengthy process.

To make up for some narrative time I decided to try out a little flashback sequence, which merged together little clips from each scene. As a trial it looks really good.

Audience Feedback

We handed out a questionnaire asking peers what they thought about the final product. I have processed the responses and split it into gender. This way I can see if there was a difference.

Both genders agreed that it was to do with the progression of the girl's life and choices she has to make.

It's funny how almost every answer says that the band is being represented as being indie. The girl's all comment on the band member's looks.

The general consensus was the transition from scene to scene was impressive and a showed off some good editing skills.
Mostly the boys spoke about physical things such as set and editing. Whereas the girls spoke about the acting skill and casting. We have to remember that the many of the people in the video aren't natural actors, we chose them based upon their looks (harsh- but what needed to happen to get the holistic look of the video).

We got great feedback and I am so pleased. Especially that someone would say it's their "favourite video out of all the A2 products"
Another hint that our video is being liked is the number of views it has managed to get. It has been up for about six days, and has almost reached 1000 views!

The Final Product

Enjoy!

The Website

Finally, the website is finished!

Here are a few screen shots from the website, where major changes have been made.

The "About Us" page wording has been altered so the blurb just reads slightly better. It gives the audience a bit more insight into the boys and their backgrounds.

A new page that was added is a "Nobody's Boys" shop. Here the audience can by hoodies, tshirts, pillows, mugs, beanies and teddy bears. All the merch has the Nobdy's Boys logo on it. This is also on the cd Digi-Pak, so we have a synergistic campaign.

The Digi-Pak

Luckily, Mariella is well trained in using Photoshop due to the fact that she is doing A-Level Photography. This meant that she was an expert on creating the Digi-Pak. I really think that she has done an excellent job, and it looks really great.

The first image will be placed under the disk. It's very simple, but gives the name of the band and album. It also includes a little logo, that is reminiscent of piano keys reminding the audience about the organic nature of the band.
The second image is the back cover of the digi-pak. It includes all the songs from the album as well as a photo of the boys in the woods.
The third image is the front of the CD. This is a favourite photo of the group as the boys all look really happy. The fact that Harry isn't looking at the camera isn't really an issue because it just looks as if it has been taken in the moment (which it was). It includes the band name as well as the album title.
The fourth and final image is the inside cover image. This is what will be placed side by side with the first image. I love that this photo is really bright and over exposed. I think it will look great next to the very simple white CD photo that we chose.

Band Website

Whilst Charlie and I have been mostly editing ,Maz has been slaving away making the draft of the website. It is already starting to look great.
This is the first draft of the homepage for our band's website. There are obviously still changes to be made, for example we might be able to change the font a little so it is a bit more interesting.
Here we have the band's tour dates complete with venue and location. Along the left hand side are a few casual photos of the boys.
An "About Us" page gives the audience a little insight into the boys. On the right hand side is a personal favourite photos that was taken sort of by accident on the shoot day. I just love how chilled it is. It also portrays Harry as the leader of the pack, which is sort of fitting with the fact that he is the lead singer.
Finally, there is a page that gives the audience a contact detail for fan mail, an email address, as well has information about their record label and other ways to contact them (via Facebook, twitter etc.)

Evaluation: Research and Planning

*unfortunately the file size is too big to be uploaded to slideshare, therefore it has to be uploaded as a low quality movie.
